Char Me Hotel

The Suite Apart Hotel lists a vineyard among its amenities, and a guest review sets the record straight: it is one vine, trained carefully up a wall. The honesty of that correction says something true about the property itself, a small, self-catering complex built in 2010 around a heated outdoor pool and a living plant wall, a few minutes' walk from Hadrian's Gate. It does not oversell what it has, and what it has, individually furnished suites, a garden terrace, resident cats, turns out to be enough on its own, without needing the embellishment.
We chose this apart-hotel for travelers who would rather manage their own mornings than sit through a hotel breakfast service, and for the sustainability choices most small properties skip: reusable tableware, no plastic bottles, water-efficient fittings, LED lighting throughout. It is a genuinely small operation, built one floor across just a handful of units, run with the kind of attentiveness that shows up in review after review as friendly owners rather than hired staff, the sort of detail a bigger hotel can rarely manage.
The property sits inside Kaleiçi, 350 metres from Hıdırlık Tower, about 100 metres from the Yivli Minare Mosque, and within 500 metres of Hadrian's Gate, putting three of the old town's landmark sights on a single short loop from the door. Reviewers describe it as tucked away and quiet, though one guest noted some street noise through the windows, a trade-off for sitting this close to the centre of things, and a short walk covers restaurants, cafés, and the old bazaar besides.

The Junior Suite runs 431 to 484 square feet with a kitchenette and, in the larger version, a pool view; the Grand Suite extends to 861 square feet with the same self-catering setup. Egyptian cotton sheets, separate sitting areas, balconies, and an 82-inch television with premium satellite channels push the suites well past the basic self-catering standard, closer to a small residence than a hotel room, the kind of setup that suits a stay of a week as easily as a weekend.
The heated pool runs from eight in the morning to six at night, ringed by sunloungers and the property's much-discussed living plant wall, with a shared hangout area where the resident cats tend to turn up uninvited and welcome. Barbecue facilities at the pool cover dinner for guests who would rather stay in, and restaurants and cafés sit one or two minutes away for anyone who would not, so neither choice costs much in convenience.
There is no on-site restaurant, so this suits travelers happy to self-cater or eat out rather than those wanting full hotel service, and the property's small size means only a handful of units are ever available on a given date. For a quiet, sustainably run base with real character inside the old town walls, it is worth the booking, and worth planning around its limited availability.
