Char Me Hotel

White Garden sits inside the walls of Kaleiçi, close enough to Mermerli Beach that the sea is a genuine option rather than a selling point stretched thin on a map. The hotel built its own answer anyway: an inner courtyard with a swimming pool, sun deck, and garden seating that gives guests a second rhythm to the day, somewhere to read in the shade before or after the walk down to the water. It is not trying to be a design hotel, and it does not need to be; the courtyard does the work a pool usually does in a property with more square footage to spare.
We chose White Garden for a combination that is harder to find than either half alone: an adults-only hotel, inside the old town walls, within walking distance of a real beach. The guest ratings back up the practical case, built on well over a thousand reviews rather than a handful of recent ones, and the hotel's own choices, a halal breakfast, a small coffee house, a bar that pours into the evening, read as a property that has settled into what its guests actually want rather than chasing a brochure version of Kaleiçi.
Kaleiçi's old streets put Hadrian's Gate, the Clock Tower, and the Old City Marina all within easy walking distance, and Mermerli Beach itself sits just below the ramparts, reached down a short flight of steps rather than a taxi ride. It is the kind of position where a guest can do a full day without once needing transport: breakfast at the hotel, a walk through the bazaar, an afternoon at the beach, dinner back in the old town.
Price: €€, mid-range for Kaleiçi
Vibe: Straightforward, courtyard-and-pool, adults-only
Rooms: Singles to triples, simply furnished, some with city views
Best For: Couples who want beach access without leaving the old town
Our Favorite Thing About the Hotel: The inner courtyard pool, a quiet second option to the beach steps away
Dining: Halal breakfast, an on-site coffee house, and a bar serving wine and champagne
Amenities: Outdoor pool, garden and terrace seating, 24-hour front desk, tour desk
Attractions: Mermerli Beach, Hadrian's Gate, the Old City Marina
Rooms run from singles to triples, with a handful of options looking out over the old town's tiled rooftops. The furnishings favour function over flourish: flat-screen televisions, private bathrooms stocked with free toiletries, free Wi-Fi throughout the building. None of it competes for attention, which is by design here, since the hotel's actual argument for a stay sits outside the room, in the courtyard and on the beach a short walk away.
A typical stay follows its own small rhythm: breakfast on the halal menu before the heat sets in, a walk through Kaleiçi's covered bazaar and narrow lanes toward the harbour, then back to the courtyard pool for the hottest hours of the afternoon. Mermerli Beach is close enough for an hour before dinner, and the hotel's bar is a reasonable place to end the evening without needing to go looking for one elsewhere. None of it is engineered for spectacle, which suits a hotel that is more interested in being useful than photogenic.
This is an 18-plus property, so it is not a fit for families, and the rooms themselves are functional rather than styled; the draw here is the location and the courtyard, not the interiors. Guests who want a design-led stay should look elsewhere in Kaleiçi. Guests who want a reliable, well-reviewed base with the beach genuinely in reach, rather than merely advertised as nearby, should find this an easy yes.
